Horse Shoe Bend Holler, Tennessee 2003
Submitted by Jason
So around August I was digging ginseng in southern Tennessee in a place known as horse shoe bend holler. It is a steep sided holler with a large brushy bottom with small creek running thru it the brush so thick that it's shady even at high noon. I had been in the area all morning find patches of ginseng and digging up the roots to later dry and sell all the while I had an odd feeling that I wasn't alone and I was being watched. Having only a large flat head screw driver which purpose was to dig up the roots for protection I decided to leave. I contacted by brother who himself is a large man standing 6'4' 230 myself only being 6'0' 180 I asked him to meet me and told him about the uncomfortable feeling. He being a believer in big foot suggested that's what it had to be I was some what skeptical but the two of us reenter the holler where I had first entered and proceeded to walk deeper in via an old logging road and began to dig ginseng that we had found when my brother turn me with goosebumps on his arms and said I feel it too I asked him what he meant and he told me the "feeling" like someone else is here we sat still for a bit and quietly looked and listened and back down the road from where we came we trees cracking one every few seconds CRACK...CRACK...CRACK the hair raised up on my neck we looked at each other and decided it was time to leave. Now before I continue this story I'd like to note that I have attempted to raccoon hunt this holler at night with award winning hounds and after releasing the dogs they would run into the timber and after a short time would actually let out a scared distress bark and immediately ran back the truck jumping onto the tailgate and back into the dog box. The locals call this place "Booger Holler" now back to my original story. My brother and I were walking back down the old logging road at nearly a jog constantly looking over our shoulder we were nearly withing sight of my Toyota pickup when we froze down the trail in front of us were sapling trees directly beside the road that had the tops snapped and twisted off around 9 to 10 foot off the ground with the broken twisted tops lying at their base with absolutely was not like that when I fist entered and exited by myself or when the two of us entered again on the same trail. We both looked at each other with pale faces and said let's get the hell outta here! We both ran to my truck jumped in and left I've never been back and we both have no doubt in out minds that it was Bigfoot and that is his territory. We never actually saw the creature but we didn't have to.
