I think in B.C. near the Rockies. The storytellers were vague and I’m not sure they even happened. I heard similar stories since.
This is a tale or part of an encounter that someone told me. The tale told to me was somewhat vague. The story told to me might not have been true, but it was a good one.
It’s about encounters in and around an area near a small town a short distance from some resort town that was pocketed by mountains on one corner and on the edge of a national park forest. On the other side of the resort town were rapids and lakes with good fishing and cottages. The small town that was near to it is the one closest to the highway and everybody going to the resort town had to pass through this little town. It seems to supply the resort town with supplies and also some of the town’s people work in the resort town, as well as those who just happened to like the small town for its peacefulness. The account starts with a vagrant who had an encounter with some hairy creature that chased it off of a property. When he reported it to the police they scoffed at him, as he said a hairy large man chased and threatened him. The only person fitting that description lived close to the outskirts of town and was away that morning on a fishing trip and wouldn’t have been back until late afternoon. So the officers threatened to charge the vagrant with trespassing and thereby throw him into jail. After the vagrant changed his story the officers let him go, but later on the vagrant got talking to a story hungry news reporter and told him of this account.
The vagrant was wrong in saying which part of the town is occurrence happened because it was on the other side of town and on a property near the highway and bordered the national forest. The reporter told the vagrant that he most likely had a run-in with a Bigfoot. So then the news reporter went and spoke with that particular property holder and asked if he had seen anything unusual on his property. And since the vagrant was in his company he said that the only unusual people he had seen were vagrants and if he sees vagrants he won’t hesitate to shoot, his land is private property. The new sound found out that there were other accounts from outsiders that there were very large hairy men actually being seen in the town but, the local folks always denied this by saying that outsiders are always looking to make trouble for the town folk. And if anyone wants news stories to go to the nearby resort town.
What makes the story interesting is that when news hounds were pursuing what they thought to be hairy creatures in town, that were running between residences. And on rounding the corners of the houses, they would be met by an angry homeowner demanding to know what they were doing. The news hounds would report that they were pursuing something large. The homeowners would ask them who or what they were chasing. and when they said that they were chasing a hairy creature they told them they were crazy because they hadn’t seen anything themselves. And in one particular instance some newshounds had been pursuing a hairy creature through a town’s property which rounded the corner of a house. And when the newshounds reached the house corner they were met by a very angry lady who chased them off of her property. The news reporters only learned later that people in the town were actually protecting and hiding these large creatures. In one instance a Bigfoot creature rounded the corner of a ladies house and she quickly opened the door and motioned it to get inside quickly. She then proceeded to chase the newshounds off of her property. As it is this is all I can remember about the tales I was told. When you're a kid the grown-ups tell the strangest things, they go in one ear and out the other.
I’m not sure where I heard this. But when I remembered it I got a kick out of it. I kind of wonder if such things could even be true. There are certainly accounts of Bigfoot's having protected people and people‘s properties in certain circumstances, so I find this to be very interesting. This and other accounts don't prove, one way or another, the existence of Bigfoot. This little story, as cute as it is, proves nothing. In a lot of Bigfoot encounters the people having them are very shaken up from the experience. We are encroaching more and more on land that was wild and I think we will continue to have wildlife encounters as time passes.
If you have had any type of encounter and are bothered by it, there's a forum for you to let it out. Everyone should be kind in commenting on what you are reading in these forums, I think everyone who posts or share their experiences is very brave. And it is nice to get things like this off one's chest.
